Our administrative hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Emergencies are seen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Dallas VA Medical Center.  If you have a life threatening emergency, dial 911 to get immediate help.

Please keep in mind that we cannot offer medical advice via the Internet or email.  We are also unable to personally answer general health or medical questions.  The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and VA privacy regulations do not permit us to return information containing personal identifiers or medical data via electronic messaging.

Contacting a Patient

If you come to visit a patient at our Dallas or Bonham facilities, please see the appropriate visitor information page for directions, parking locations, visiting hours and policies.

Telephone Care

Registered nurses are available 24 hours, 7 days a week and on holidays to answer medical advice questions. This service is provided to increase veteran access to healthcare advice and education and to help the patient avoid unnecessary hospital or clinic visits. During regular business hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, Telecare is also able to assist in making changes to primary care clinic appointments.

Patient Advocate

If you have a compliment, complaint, or other issue which you believe requires resolution, please contact one of our patient advocates.

Compensation and Pension

To speak with someone in compensation and pension, call the Dallas VA Medical Center at (214) 742-8387 (or (800) 849-3597), extension  77171 or 71383.

Release of Information

If you need to get information from your medical records, please contact our Release of Information Office.

Means Test

Questions regarding your means test?  Contact the Dallas VAMC Means Test Coordinator at (214) 857-1337.

Fee Basis

Questions or concerns regarding your claim filed by a non-VA medical provider can be directed to Fee Basis.  Call (214) 857-1397 to be directed to the appropriate fee clerk.

Burial Benefits

Questions or concerns regarding burial benefits can be answered by calling the Decedent Affairs Coordinator at (214) 857-1399.

Travel

For travel requests, questions or concerns, Dallas VAMC patients may call our travel clerks at (214) 857-1350.

Inquiry Routing and Information System

VA has established an inquiry routing and information system which provides answers to frequently-asked questions. You may also use this system to submit a comment, question, or concern.
